Olivia is the Facility Lead, Personal Trainer, and Group Fitness Instructor at Moore Fitness. Her journey at Moore began three years ago when she started as an Exercise Specialist at Moore Physical Therapy. In that role, she helped patients through their prescribed exercises and assisted with heat and ice modalities as part of their physical therapy care.
While working at Moore Physical Therapy, Olivia was also finishing her Bachelor’s degree in Exercise Science at Arizona State University, where she also obtained her Personal Training certification.
During the summer she graduated from Arizona State, Olivia began working alongside Jacob Boehme, Physical Therapist and Clinic Director, and Marc Moore, Physical Therapist and Owner, to develop what would eventually become Moore Fitness. Together, they brought their vision to life, opening Moore Fitness in October 2024.
Throughout that process, Olivia shared with Marc and Jacob how her own journey to becoming a Personal Trainer connected deeply with the mission behind Moore Fitness: helping people increase their longevity and healthspan (quality of life).
Olivia grew up in a multigenerational household, where her maternal grandparents lived with her and were much more like a second set of parents than the grandparents you only see on holidays or special occasions. When Olivia was around 12 years old, she received the devastating news that her grandfather, Oscar Espinoza, had congestive heart failure. Doctors gave him only three weeks to three months to live.
This was a life-changing moment for Olivia. Her grandfather meant so much to her, and watching him face his diagnosis left a lasting impact.
After recovering from open-heart surgery, Oscar decided it was time to get serious about his health. If he wanted to get better, he knew he needed to make some significant changes. He wanted to be strong for his wife of more than 50 years (Dolores), his daughter (Evelyn), and all of his grandchildren. He made a conscious decision to take control of his health and prove the doctors wrong.
Oscar purchased a family membership to the Apache Junction Recreation Center, and after dinner, the family would go together to exercise. Olivia grew up in a Hispanic household where the food was absolutely delicious, and her grandfather did most of the cooking. He found ways to continue making the foods their family and culture loved while also making healthier choices that supported his new commitment to his health.
Olivia was inspired by the way her grandfather took control of his health and worked to improve his quality of life. He ultimately lived more than three additional years beyond the initial prognosis, giving his family more time and memories together. Watching his journey inspired Olivia to want to have that same kind of impact on other people’s lives, and from there, her passion for becoming a Personal Trainer began to bloom.
Oscar passed away in 2015, not from complications related to his heart condition. Olivia’s grandmother, Dolores, had passed away in October 2014 after a difficult battle with terminal brain cancer. Oscar was in good health at the time of his passing, and Olivia’s family believes that losing his wife was simply too much for his heart to bear.
His legacy continues to live on at Moore Fitness since Oscar is Olivia’s “why,” and his impact is also honored through the Moore Fitness Oscar Espinoza Award, which is given to individuals who exemplify what Moore Fitness stands for: increasing one’s healthspan.
When Olivia isn’t being fulfilled by her passion for fitness in her career, she enjoys spending quality time with her husband and furbabies, Vienna and Ahsoka. She also loves paddleboarding, making a fun playlist, coloring, reading, solving puzzles, spending time with family and friends, prioritizing her mental health, exercising, and pursuing any hobby that brings her comfort and joy.
Stop by Moore Fitness Monday through Friday between 7 a.m. and 2 p.m. to connect with Olivia. If you’re looking for someone to help keep you accountable, make exercise enjoyable, and get you excited about moving your body, Olivia is the gal to know!
Her philosophy when it comes to exercise is simple: Exercise is a celebration of what your body can do, not a punishment for anything you’ve done in the past.
Exercise is a privilege, and Olivia’s goal is to help you exercise that privilege… literally!
